This is where the party is happening\, so come and groove with us. \n\n\n\n-Program:20.30h Bar open for drinks 20.45h Opening Concert at the Lobby by Honey Boulton22h Jam session! \n\n\n\nAbout the band:Honey Boulton specialises in swing and bebop guitar\, and has what is drescribed by Soweto Kinsch (of BBC 3) as “…a timelessly authentic sound” After recently returning to the UK from his hometown Wellington\, New Zealand\, he has become a solid proponent of the musical landscape that is the London jazz scene\, performing at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s\, Pizza Express Dean Street\, The 100 Club\, as well as regularly touring abroad\, playing at clubs such as Duc De Lombards (Paris)\, and Unity Jazz Göteberg\, and playing at international festivals\, such as Festival Django Reinhardt. With a love of a wide breadth of styles and artists\, he is able to play across the board stylistically\, with a joy that is positively contagious. \n\n\n\nHoney makes up one third of the Adrian Cox trio\, and is a regular fixture in Giacomo Smith’s Hot Five\, and has performed with many artists such as Joe Webb\, Georgia Cecile\, Snorre Kirk\, Pete Horsfall\, Deschanel Gordon and Laura Jurd. \n\n\n\nHoney feels equally at home in a large ensemble as he does in a solo or accompanying vocalists in a duo setting (and everything in between)\, he is known for his sensitivity and empathetic playing style as well as his hard driving rhythm playing. Their swinging 1950s jazz gets dancers moving—and the energy bounces right back into the band.They often play contrafacts: fresh melodies built on the chord progressions of jazz standards. Led by guitarist Matthijs Driessen\, the band features Dano Roelvink on tenor sax\, Bendert Zevenbergen on vibraphone\, Leo Verbree on bass\, and Hugo Jonker on drums. We have the space for all of it in the allure of our 1956 stunning art-deco venue. \n\n\n\nAbout the band:The Caledonians Big Band was founded in 1942 and has always played a significant role in the history of jazz in the Zaan region\, right up to the present day. Without interruption\, this Zaan swing band—comprising 21 amateur and professional musicians—has been rehearsing\, performing\, and making its mark ever since. The orchestra is now led by pianist Emiel Bothenius and sounds and swings like never before. The music consists of swinging pieces from the repertoire of the great swing bands\, including Count Basie\, Glenn Miller\, and Tommy Dorsey\, and is perfect for listening to\, but of course also ideal for dancing!
