Each class gives you a feel for the dance so you can decide what suits you best.
Swing dance is a beautiful way to meet new people, share a fun experience with a friend, find community, enjoy great music & do something good for your body and mind.
No partner needed! We rotate partners, everyone dances with everyone — and everyone learns to lead & follow. So come as you are (bring a friend if you like) and enjoy the magic of these dances.

We’re delighted to welcome Dirk Balthaus & Band for another Friday filled with great jazzy tunes at our beautiful Kompaszaal.
KZ is not your regular small jazz cafe, KZ is an experience! This stunning Art-Deco ballroom with a terrace on het Ij has build a name, a name that stands for the best swing jazz in town and we all know it!

SLOW SWING in MARCH Registration – Help us decide which DAY works the best! Swing Philosophy will hold a weekly Slow Swing Course in March.
On slower swing music you will learn basic fundamentals of Slow Swing dancing, about the Culture and most importantly learn how to build a dance connection with each other. Everyone leads and everyone follows – so everyone is dancing with everyone & no partner needed!
We offer two options for our Slow Swing Classes. Please register on the day you can, if both days are possible vote for the last option. The Course will take place on the day, which has the most registrations. In case it is not the day you chose, we will inform you and hopefully be able to provide another day soon.

JAZZALIKE Big Band plays at our Big Band Night in KZ, inviting everyone to enjoy live swing music in a relaxed, welcoming and beautiful atmosphere.
We are all about the glorious music of the 1930&40, mixed with nowadays life. It’s an experience for young and old, for the listener and for the dancer, for the party animal and for the wallflower. We have the space for all of it in the allure of our 1956 stunning art-deco venue.
About the band: Based in Utrecht, Jazzalike Bigband has been performing on stage since 2001. The repertoire consists of a good mix of modern jazz and traditional big band, as well as intimate ballads and danceable funk grooves. The band is made up of five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, a tight rhythm section, and an enthusiastic bandleader, often complemented by an amazing singer.

About Sam Ghezzi: Sam Ghezzi is a multi-instrumentalist and singer. Born in Trento (IT) in 1995, his career soon started to focus on blues, jazz and everything in between. With Roaring Cats (swing octet) and The Hi-Stakes (rhythm ‘n’ blues quintet) he is currently touring in festivals and clubs around the globe. Through a philologically conscious approach, his music guarantees a thought through performance, accompanied by sophisticated sarcasm and dynamic enthusiasm.
